Ceremonial Assistance Program

Ceremony

The focus of the Adopt-A-Native Elder (ANE) Program is on support of traditional Navajo Elders. These Elders continue to honor the sacred traditions of their culture with cermonies. Ceremonies are done throughout the lifetime of an Elder and can be done for a variety of reasons. As the Elders grow older, ceremonies are often done for health reasons.

In order to have a ceremony performed on their behalf, an Elder may need to have specific items to be used in the ceremony. These items can include things like traditional woven baskets, Pendleton blankets and other traditional goods. In addition, an Elder will often need to provide food and shelter for family and traditional Medicine Men who will participate in the ceremony.

The ANE Program makes contributions to assist Elders in these ceremonies. Donations are the only means we have to support these Elders' ceremonial needs.
