Susie Benale
Yá’át’ééh. I am Susie Benale. I live in Big Mountain, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. I learned to weave when I was eight years old. My late mother, Mary Lou Benale taught me to weave. I spin my own wool from the start. Weaving keeps me busy.
I like weaving. It helps me feed my family and myself. The kinds of rugs I like to weave are Storm Pattern, Two Grey Hills, and Tree of Life.
